PAT Testing Volunteer

At CHAS we care for children throughout Scotland and we're here for the whole family. Whether at home, in hospital, or visiting us at Rachel or Robin House, we'll give families the care and support they need, when they need it.

CHAS runs a number of charity shops across Scotland, selling donated stock as well as new goods to raise the vital funds required to care for children and their families. CHAS raise a lot of money from the sale of donated electrical goods but we must ensure the appliances are safe to use and attractive to buyers. We are looking for a qualified PAT tester to help with the testing and packing of second hand electrical items so that we can resell these in our charity shops.

By selling goods in the shops you are directly raising the funds that enable us to support children with a life-shortening condition and their family.

How much time should I offer?

This role will be on a bank basis so as and when this is required depending on stock. This on average will be a few hours every two weeks. You can volunteer Monday to Saturday, in the morning or afternoon.

What ongoing learning/support/guidance will I receive?

It’s important to us that you feel happy, safe and confident in your role. As a CHAS volunteer you will be invited to complete a short core learning package that is tailored to your role. We are always developing new opportunities for volunteers to learn and offer a range of options for volunteers.

We have also partnered with the Skills Network to offer all our volunteers the chance to develop new skills and explore further learning opportunities.

We also offer a full induction where we provide full training. Trial shifts can also be arranged to help you decide if this is the right role for you.

What else should I know?

We will pay your out of pocket expenses in line with the CHAS volunteer expenses policy.
